Launch of the Missing Salmon Alliance ‘Salmon Ecosystem Data Hub (SalHub)’
The Missing Salmon Alliance are excited to announce the launch of a unique online data library designed to draw in relevant knowledge and help uncover the reasons behind declining Atlantic salmon populations. Graeme Diack, Data Specialist on the Likely Suspects Framework project, along with support from project Principal Investigator, Colin Bull and technical research assistant George Brown, have developed an online portal to encourage sharing and collaboration of data products, enhance data mobilisation, and in time provide a science-to-action knowledge flow for Atlantic salmon research.
The design and implementation of this resource has been shaped by advice from a number of experts in the field of ecology and eco-informatics. Representatives from the MSA organisations, as well as external organisations NCEAS, HAKAI Institute, DFO Canada and NPAFC, have provided essential guidance on many critical aspects of the technologies and methods used. This is an evolving web application, and at this stage we would welcome participation from data owners as we encourage the growth of a user community.

As an Alliance of five organisations, we will build on the existing work of our partners and maximise our impact by taking a coordinated approach and vital action in order to halt and reverse the decline of wild Atlantic salmon.
The goal of the Missing Salmon Alliance is to build an evidence-base to influence national and international decision-makers to regulate activities that adversely impact wild Atlantic salmon.
