True Blue, Salmon School, and COP 26

The wonderful, whirlwind experience of Salmon School at COP26 is over and, by now, you’ve likely heard that the final agreement among national governments fell short of the goal of keeping the world on track to slow global warming to 1.5 degrees celsius.

However, there has been significant progress on making Salmon, and ecosystem, conservation a focal point of adapting to and slowing climate change. This was thanks to the huge visual element of COP26, which was seen up close sculpted form by thousands of delegates and seen, through the media, by hundreds of thousands of people around the world.

The first of the ©TrueBlue videos highlights the scope of cooperation that went into getting Salmon School to COP26.

The second ©TrueBlue video went into depth on just what Salmon face in our seas and rivers. It, like so much of the work around the project, made clear how important significant change is for the survival of this ancient Fish.

The third video by ©TrueBlue went more into depth about the people and communities mobilising to rescue Salmon and raise awareness of its alarming decline.

However, the fourth ©TrueBlue was perhaps the most key. Here, it was crucial to show what had to be done by delegates to rescue this ancient fish from the precipice of collapse.

As an Alliance of five organisations, we will build on the existing work of our partners and maximise our impact by taking a coordinated approach and vital action in order to halt and reverse the decline of wild Atlantic salmon.

The goal of the Missing Salmon Alliance is to build an evidence-base to influence national and international decision-makers to regulate activities that adversely impact wild Atlantic salmon.
