Salmon Ecosystem Data Hub
The Salmon Ecosystem Data Hub is an online portal providing a unique platform for Atlantic salmon knowledge mobilisation. The portal consists of an area inviting users to register salmon knowledge through a simplified metadata submission form, and a search area to guide researchers to the data they need to test hypotheses. Registered knowledge sources are indexed within the resource by how they relate to the Atlantic salmon Life-Stage via the use of temporal detail, spatial detail, and specially defined salmon domains, as well as information on the classification of variables within the data. All knowledge in the resource is present because it is relevant to Atlantic salmon ecology, be that through Primary Observation, Derived Output, or Modelled Output.
Search The Salmon Ecosystem Data Hub
Search and Explore knowledge sources that have been registered in the Salmon Ecosystem Data Hub. Our open and intuitive map and tabular interface allows finely tuned discovery of evidence and knowledge relevant to salmon management and research. The filters and search terms empowers the user to capture information on available sources aligned with salmon domains and/or variable classes. This approach has the strength of presenting results which can correspond to the requirements of various Mortality Hypotheses, as well as highlighting where there might be gaps in our understanding and evidence.
Submit Data to the Salmon Ecosystem Data Hub
Through this portal you may submit knowledge sources via an easy-to-follow metadata form. The metadata captured ties in to existing metadata standards to ensure the descriptions have longevity and portability across other data repositories. The metadata form has a minimum set of fields to capture at least the existence of a dataset along with owner contact details, plus more expansive fields to capture detail on location, time and attributes, among other information. The more detail that can be supplied at this stage, the more utility the resource can add to the search areas.
Organising and mobilising knowledge to help understand what is happening to salmon across its lifecycle.

Join the Data Sharing Group
Access to the Salmon Ecosystem Data Hub is open to all searching for knowledge and evidence across the salmon data landscape. In order to submit data resources we have implemented a Likely Suspects Framework Data Sharing Group. The aim of this group, and the agreement that members abide to, is to encourage a mutualistic relationship of data being shared and used. The Memorandum of Agreement text can be viewed and downloaded here.
